Frequently Asked Questions

Here are some common questions new clients often ask. If you have any additional questions or are ready to begin working together, you can contact me by email at andrea@themoderndayseeker.com or use the contact form below.

What can I expect from our first session?

I strive to give my clients as much value as possible. It is important I gather some history in session one, so I have a clearer picture of where you come from and what leads you to beginning therapy at this time. However, I like for clients to have at least one new insight or something to reflect on from the very start of our work together. Many clients have told me they enjoy how deep I am able to go with them, beginning in session one. Each individual is unique, and together we will find our way into these deeper dimensions at a pace and rhythm that feels safe and good to you. Session one typically involves at least some loose framing around your family-of-origin, as this gives invaluable insight into many of the presenting concerns. We will also, of course, explore your present circumstances which prompted you to reach out at this time.

How frequently will we meet?

To start, standard sessions typically occur weekly or biweekly. However, I strive to help each person find a rhythm that works best for them. Some might prefer to space out their sessions, while others might want to meet more frequently. I believe clients understand what is best for them and what arrangement most supports their own growth, needs, and progress.

When will I start to see changes?

Unfortunately, this is not possible to say in a general sense, as everyone’s circumstances are unique. For some, reaching out to talk is already a big change! As a therapist, it’s important to me that my clients are making progress. Most clients begin to understand themselves in different ways starting in session one, but like anything, there is no “quick-fix” to substitute for the often long, hard-fought battle of truly developing oneself. The amount of time change takes depends on your own level of commitment, readiness, and dedication.

Do you accept insurance?

Currently, I am only in-network with Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield of Georgia. I am an out-of-network provider with all other plans. This means, upon request, I can provide a Superbill for you to submit to your insurance for possible reimbursement. Reimbursement depends upon your out-of-network benefits. Consult your insurance provider for more details. I accept cash, debit/credit cards, HSA and FSA as forms of payment.

What is your cancellation policy?

If you need to cancel or reschedule, please do so at least 24 hours in advance. Otherwise, the full session fee will be charged. These boundaries are a way of practicing mutual respect with one another and allowing for our professional relationship to flourish.
